Translation

English translation

Khanzala bin Khuwailid says that once I was sitting with Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) when two men came to him with a dispute. Each of them claimed that he had martyred Ammar (may Allah be pleased with him). Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "You should congratulate each other, for I heard the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) say that Ammar will be killed by a rebellious group." Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Then what are you doing with us, O Amr! Why do you not relieve us of this madman of yours?" He replied, "Once my father complained about me to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ), and the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Obey your father throughout your life and do not disobey him.' That is why I am with you, but I do not participate in the fighting."
