Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Protect yourself from oppression, for oppression will be darkness on the Day of Resurrection. Protect yourself from indecency, for Allah does not like any kind of indecency, whether openly or secretly. Also protect yourself from miserliness, for miserliness destroyed those before you. It was miserliness that led them to sever family ties, so they broke their relationships. It was miserliness that commanded them to hoard their wealth and possessions, so they did so. It was miserliness that led them to the path of sins, so they began to commit sins." Meanwhile, a man stood up and asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Which Muslim is the best?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "The one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe." Another man stood up and asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Which migration is the best?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) replied: "That you leave those things which your Lord dislikes. And migration is of two types: the migration of the city dweller and the migration of the villager. The migration of the villager is that when he is invited, he accepts, and when he is commanded, he obeys. The trial of the city dweller is greater, and his reward is also greater."
