حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى عَلَى بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، فَأَلْقَاهُ، وَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: " هَذَا أَشَرُّ، هَذَا حِلْيَةُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ " فَأَلْقَاهُ، وَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ، فَسَكَتَ عَنْهُ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saw a gold ring in the hand of a companion (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (ﷺ) turned his face away from him. He threw it away and made a ring of iron. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "This is even worse than that; this is the adornment of the people of Hell." He then threw that away too and made a ring of silver. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) remained silent.
