Sayyida Umm Salamah’s freed slave “Na’im” says that once I performed Hajj with Ibn Amr. When we were on a certain road in Makkah Mukarramah, he deliberately and intentionally fixed his gaze on something. When that thing became clear, which was a tree, he came and sat under it and said: I saw the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) sitting under this very tree. At that time, a man came to the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) from that direction, greeted him, and said: O Messenger of Allah! I want to go with you for jihad, and my only purpose is to attain Allah’s pleasure and a place in the Hereafter. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked him: Are either of your parents alive? He replied: Yes, both are alive. He said: “Go and treat your parents well.” So he went back to where he had come from.
