حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،، ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى عَلَى بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، فَأَلْقَاهُ وَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ حَدِيدٍ، فَقَالَ: " هَذَا شَرٌّ (١) ، هَذَا حِلْيَةُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ "، فَأَلْقَاهُ، فَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ، فَسَكَتَ عَنْهُ (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) saw a gold ring in the hand of a companion (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (ﷺ) turned his face away from him. He threw it away and made an iron ring. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: "This is even worse than that; this is the adornment of the people of Hell." He threw that away and made a silver ring. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) remained silent at this.
