Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ:، ، أَتَيْتُ عَلَى عَلِيٍّ، أَنَا وَرَجُلانِ (١) ، فَقَالَ: " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْضِي حَاجَتَهُ، ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ فَيَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ، وَيَأْكُلُ مَعَنَا اللَّحْمَ، وَلا يَحْجِزُهُ - وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ: يَحْجُبُهُ - مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ شَيْءٌ لَيْسَ الْجَنَابَةَ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that `Abdullah bin Salimah said:
Two men and I came to ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه), who said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was relieving himself, then he came out and recited Qur`an and ate meat with us. Nothing prevented or stopped him from reciting Qur`an except janabah.
