Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ،، ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " لَيْسَ مِنَّا مَنْ ضَرَبَ الْخُدُودَ، وَشَقَّ الْجُيُوبَ، أَوْ دَعَا بِدَعْوَى الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ " قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ: وَأَحْسَبُهُ قَدْ رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "He is not one of us who strikes his cheeks, tears his collar, and calls with the call of ignorance."
