حَدَّثَنَا (١) مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ وَاصِلٍ الْأَحْدَبِ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَيُّ الذَّنْبِ أَعْظَمُ؟، قَالَ: " أَنْ تَجْعَلَ لِلَّهِ نِدًّا، وَهُوَ خَلَقَكَ، وَأَنْ تُزَانِيَ بِحَلِيلَةِ جَارِكَ، وَأَنْ تَقْتُلَ وَلَدَكَ أَجْلَ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ مَعَكَ (٢) ، أَوْ يَأْكُلَ طَعَامَكَ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I asked the Prophet (ﷺ): "Which sin is the greatest?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "To associate partners with Allah, especially when He alone has created you; to kill your child out of fear that he will eat with you; and to commit adultery with your neighbor's wife."
