حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَنِ انْصِرَافِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ النَّخَعِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا يَسْأَلُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ عَنِ انْصِرَافِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ كَانَ يَنْصَرِفُ أَوْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ؟ قَالَ: فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَنْصَرِفُ حَيْثُ أَرَادَ، كَانَ أَكْثَرُ انْصِرَافِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ عَلَى شِقِّهِ الْأَيْسَرِ إِلَى حُجْرَتِهِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
Aswad (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I heard a man asking Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him): "Did the Prophet (ﷺ) return after prayer from the right side or the left side?" He replied: "The Prophet (ﷺ) would return from whichever side he wished, and most often he would return from the left side towards his chambers."
