Original Arabic
قَرَأْتُ عَلَى أبي، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ، قَالَ: أَتَيْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَإِذَا هُوَ يَكْوِي غُلَامًا. قَالَ: قُلْتُ تَكْوِيهِ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، هُوَ دَوَاءُ الْعَرَبِ. قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَمْ يُنْزِلْ دَاءً إِلَّا وَقَدْ أَنْزَلَ مَعَهُ دَوَاءً، جَهِلَهُ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ جَهِلَهُ، وَعَلِمَهُ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ عَلِمَهُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that Ibn Mas'ood said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “I thought of instructing a man to lead the people in prayer, then going and burning down the houses of men who stay away from Jumu’ah whilst they are in them.”
