حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ سَلَمَةَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، يَقُولُ: " أُوتِيَ نَبِيُّكُمْ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَفَاتِيحَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ غَيْرَ الْخَمْسِ: {إِنَّ اللهَ عِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ وَيُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ، وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِي الْأَرْحَامِ، وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ مَاذَا تَكْسِبُ غَدًا وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ بِأَيِّ أَرْضٍ تَمُوتُ إِنَّ اللهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ} [لقمان: ٣٤] " قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ: أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " نَعَمْ، أَكْثَرَ مِنْ خَمْسِينَ مَرَّةً " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that Huzail said:
A man came to Abu Moosa and Salman bin Rabee'ah and asked them about a daughter, a son's daughter and a sister (i.e., a case of inheritance). He said: The daughter gets half and the sister gets half, go and ask ‘Abdullah, and he will agree with us. He went to ‘Abdullah and told him (about that) and he said: I would go astray, and I would not be one of the rightly guided (cf. 6:45) (if I agree with him). I shall certainly issue a verdict in accordance with the verdict of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): the daughter gets one half, the son's daughter gets one sixth and what is left goes to the sister.
