Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: " لَأَنْ أَحْلِفَ تِسْعًا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُتِلَ قَتْلًا، أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَحْلِفَ وَاحِدَةً أَنَّهُ لَمْ يُقْتَلْ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ اللهَ، ، عَزَّ وَجَلَّ جَعَلَهُ نَبِيًّا، وَاتَّخَذَهُ شَهِيدًا " قَالَ: فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ، فَقَالَ: " كَانُوا يَرَوْنَ، وَيَقُولُونَ: إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ سَمُّوهُ، وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from ‘Abdullah that he said:
We were with the Prophet (ﷺ) , nearly forty people in a tent, and he said: "Would it please you to be one quarter of the people of Paradise?" We said: Yes. He said: “Would it please you to be one third of the people of Paradise?" We said: Yes. He said: “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, I hope that you will be half of the people of Paradise, and that is because no one will enter Paradise except a Muslim soul, and you, compared to the mushrikeen, are like a white hair on the hide of a black bull, or a black hair on the hide of a red bull."
