Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ، فَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ، وَالْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ، وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَكْذِبُ، حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ كَذَّابًا "، وَقَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ، فَإِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ، وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ، وَإِنَّهُ - يَعْنِي: الرَّجُلَ - لَيَصْدُقُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ، حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ صِدِّيقًا ". قَالَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ: " وَمَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَصْدُقُ وَيَتَحَرَّى الصِّدْقَ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) that
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say: "O Allah, I ask You for guidance, Piety, abstinence (from that which is haram and is not appropriate) and independence of means.”
