حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي الْفُرَاتِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَعْيَنِ الْعَبْديِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ الْجُشَمِيِّ، قَالَ: بَيْنَمَا ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ، يَخْطُبُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، إِذْ مَرَّ بِحَيَّةٍ تَمْشِي عَلَى الْجِدَارِ، فَقَطَعَ خُطْبَتَهُ، ثُمَّ ضَرَبَهَا بِقَضِيبِهِ حَتَّى قَتَلَهَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ قَتَلَ حَيَّةً فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ رَجُلًا مُشْرِكًا قَدْ حَلَّ دَمُهُ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that Ibn Mas'ood said:
I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "A person may tell lies until he is recorded with Allah as a liar, or he may speak the truth until he is recorded with Allah as a speaker of truth.”
