Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنِ الرُّكَيْنِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " الْخَيْلُ ثَلَاثَةٌ، فَفَرَسٌ لِلرَّحْمَنِ، وَفَرَسٌ لِلْإِنْسَانِ، وَفَرَسٌ لِلشَّيْطَانِ، فَأَمَّا فَرَسُ الرَّحْمَنِ: فَالَّذِي يُرْبَطُ (٢) فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، فَعَلَفُهُ وَرَوْثُهُ وَبَوْلُهُ، وَذَكَرَ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ، وَأَمَّا فَرَسُ الشَّيْطَانِ: فَالَّذِي يُقَامَرُ أَوْ يُرَاهَنُ عَلَيْهِ، وَأَمَّا فَرَسُ الْإِنْسَانِ: فَالْفَرَسُ يَرْتَبِطُهَا الْإِنْسَانُ يَلْتَمِسُ بَطْنَهَا، فَهِيَ تَسْتُرُ (٣)، ، مِنْ فَقْرٍ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ood (رضي الله عنه) that
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "There is no one among you who does not have his companion from among the angels and from among the jinn." They said: Even you, O Messenger of Allah? He said: “Even me, but Allah helped me against him and he became Muslim, and he does not tell me to do anything but good."
