حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: " كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَرْثٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، وَهُوَ مُتَّكِئٌ عَلَى عَسِيبٍ، قَالَ: فَمَرَّ بِقَوْمٍ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ: سَلُوهُ عَنِ الرُّوحِ، قَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: لَا تَسْأَلُوهُ،، ، فَسَأَلُوهُ عَنِ الرُّوحِ، فَقَالُوا: يَا مُحَمَّدُ مَا الرُّوحُ؟ فَقَامَ، فَتَوَكَّأَ (١) عَلَى الْعَسِيبِ، قَالَ: فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ يُوحَى إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: {وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ الرُّوحِ قُلِ الرُّوحُ مِنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّي وَمَا أُوتِيتُمْ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا} [الإسراء: ٨٥] ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ: قَدْ قُلْنَا لَكُمْ: لَا تَسْأَلُوهُ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that Abu Majid said:
A man came to Ibn Masood with a nephew of his and said: This is the son of my brother; he drank alcohol. ‘Abdullah said: The first hadd punishment to be carried out in Islam was a woman who stole, and her hand was cut off. The face of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) changed a great deal (i.e., in disapproval), then he said: “Let them pardon and forgive. Do you not love that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful" (an-Noor 24:22).
