Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ: " لَأَنْ أَحْلِفَ بِاللهِ تِسْعًا (١) ، إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُتِلَ قَتْلًا، أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أَحْلِفَ وَاحِدَةً، وَذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اتَّخَذَهُ نَبِيًّا، وَجَعَلَهُ شَهِيدًا " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
Zaid bin Wahb said: I heard Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) say:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to us: "After I am gone, you will see selfishness (on the part of others) and things that you disapprove of." We said: What do you instruct us to do? He said: "Give them their dues, and ask Allah for what is due to you."
