Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، قَالَ:، ، دُعِينَا إِلَى طَعَامٍ، وَفِيهَا (١) سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ، ومِقْسَمٌ، مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فَلَمَّا وُضِعَ الطَّعَامُ، قَالَ سَعِيدٌ: كُلُّكُمْ بَلَغَهُ مَا قِيلَ فِي الطَّعَامِ؟ قَالَ مِقْسَمٌ: حَدِّثْ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ سَمِعُ (٢)، فَقَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِذَا وُضِعَ الطَّعَامُ، فَلَا تَأْكُلُوا مِنْ وَسَطِهِ، فَإِنَّ الْبَرَكَةَ تَنْزِلُ وَسَطَهُ، وَكُلُوا مِنْ حَافَتَيْهِ أَوْ حَافَتَيْهَا " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
Ibn Juraij narrated. I heard `Ata' say: I heard Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) say:
There was a sheep that belonged to one of the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) and it died. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Why don't you take its hide and make use of it?”
