حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، قَالَ:، لَمَّا مَاتَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بُكِيَ عَلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ " (٣) .،

Translation

English translation

It was narrated that Ibn al Musayyab said:

When Abu Bakr died, people wept for him. `Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: `The deceased is tormented because of the weeping of the living.”
