Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ (١) ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ يَعْنِي الْأَعْمَشَ، عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: " لَوْ أَنَّ قَطْرَةً مِنَ الزَّقُّومِ. . . " فَذَكَرَهُ (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) that they said:
O Messenger of Allah, things cross our minds that we would rather be turned to charcoal than speak of it. He said (according to one of the narrators): "Praise be to Allah Who did not give the Shaitan any power over you except whispering." {According to the other narrator he said): "Praise be to Allah Who has reduced the guile of the Shaitan to mere whispering.”
