Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: أَجْنَبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَيْمُونَةُ، فَاغْتَسَلَتْ مَيْمُونَةُ فِي جَفْنَةٍ، وَفَضَلَتْ فَضْلَةٌ، فَأَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ مِنْهَا، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي قَدِ اغْتَسَلْتُ مِنْهُ. فَقَالَ - يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ -: " إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَيْسَتْ عَلَيْهِ جَنَابَةٌ " أَوْ قَالَ: " إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يَنْجُسُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنه) that
It was suggested to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) that he should marry the daughter of Hamzah and he said: "She is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding. What becomes mahram (forbidden for marriage) through breastfeeding is that which becomes mahram through blood ties.”
