Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، وَهَاشِمٌ، قَالا: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْبَخْتَرِيِّ، قَالَ: أَهْلَلْنَا هِلالَ رَمَضَانَ، وَنَحْنُ بِذَاتِ عِرْقٍ، قَالَ: فَأَرْسَلْنَا رَجُلًا إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَسْأَلُهُ - قَالَ هَاشِمٌ: فَسَأَلَهُ - فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّ اللهَ قَدْ مَدَّ رُؤْيَتَهُ - قَالَ هَاشِمٌ: لِرُؤْيَتِهِ - فَإِنْ أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from Ibn Abbas, who attributed it to the Prophet (ﷺ):
"Every covenant that was made during the Jahiliyyah, Islam only strengthens and reaffirms it.”
