Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: " قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، حِينَ حُوِّلَتِ الْقِبْلَةُ: فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ إِلَى بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى: {وَمَا كَانَ اللهُ لِيُضِيعَ إِيمَانَكُمْ} [البقرة: ١٤٣] " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that Ibn '‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said concerning the verse,
“You (true believers in Islamic Monotheism, and real followers of Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his Sunnah) are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind" [Al 'Imran 3:110]. (It refers to) the Companions of Muhammad (ﷺ) who migrated with him to Madinah.
