Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُقْرِئِ (٢) ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " الْوَالِدُ أَوْسَطُ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ، فَاحْفَظْ ذَلِكَ الْبَابَ أَوْ دَعْهُ " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet saying: The father is the middle gate of Paradise; now it is up to you whether you protect it or leave it.
