حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَصْرَةَ (١) يَقُولُ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّا (٢) غَادُونَ إِلَى يَهُودَ فَلَا تَبْدَءُوهُمْ بِالسَّلَامِ، فَإِذَا سَلَّمُوا عَلَيْكُمْ فَقُولُوا: وَعَلَيْكُمْ " (٣)، ،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Basrah Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) that one day the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Tomorrow I will ride and go to the Jews, therefore do not initiate greeting them with Salam, and when they greet you with Salam, then you should only say «وعليكم»."
