حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْعَدَوِيِّ مِنْ خُزَاعَةَ - وَكَانَ مِنَ الصَّحَابَةِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمْ - عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " الضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثٌ، وَجَائِزَتُهُ يَوْمٌ، ، وَلَيْلَةٌ، وَلَا يَحِلُّ لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يُقِيمَ عِنْدَ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يُؤْثِمَهُ "، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا يُؤْثِمُهُ؟ قَالَ: " يُقِيمُ عِنْدَهُ وَلَا يَجِدُ شَيْئًا يَقُوتُهُ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Shurayh (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Hospitality is for three days, and the right (of elaborate hospitality) is only for one day and night. Whatever is beyond that is charity upon the host. And it is not permissible for a person to stay with someone so long that he makes him sinful." The companions asked: "O Messenger of Allah! What does making him sinful mean?" He replied: "That he stays with the host while the host has nothing left to offer him to eat."
