حَدِيثُ أُمِّ بُجَيْدٍ (١)، ٢٧١٤٨ - حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ بُجَيْدٍ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ أُمِّ بُجَيْدٍ قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَاللهِ (٢) إِنَّ الْمِسْكِينَ لَيَقِفُ عَلَى بَابِي حَتَّى أَسْتَحْيِيَ (٣) فَلَا أَجِدُ فِي بَيْتِي مَا أَدْفَعُ (٤) فِي يَدِهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " ادْفَعِي (٥) في يَدِهِ وَلَوْ ظِلْفًا مُحْرَقًا (٦) " (٧) ،، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Umm Bajid (may Allah be pleased with her) that once I submitted in the court of Prophethood: O Messenger of Allah! Sometimes a poor person comes and stands at the door of my house, and I feel ashamed that I have nothing at home to give him. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Place something in his hand, even if it is only a burnt hoof."
