Imam Sha’bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that when I was about to leave, she said to me, “Sit down, I will narrate to you a hadith of the Prophet (ﷺ).” Once, the Prophet (ﷺ) came out and led the Zuhr prayer. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) completed his prayer, he said, “Remain seated!” He ascended the pulpit. The people were surprised, so he said, “O people! Remain seated in your places of prayer! I have not gathered you to encourage you towards something or to warn you from Allah. I have only gathered you because Tamim Dari came to me, pledged allegiance to Islam, and became Muslim. He told me something which, out of happiness and coolness to my eyes, prevented me from taking a midday nap, so I wished to spread the joy of your Prophet to you. He informed me that he boarded a sea vessel with his cousins. Suddenly, a storm arose in the sea, and they reached an unknown island in the sea until the sun set. Then, they entered the island in small boats and found there an animal covered with thick and dense hair. They could not tell whether it was male or female. They greeted it, and it replied. They asked, ‘Who are you?’ It said, ‘O people! Go to that man in the monastery, for he is very eager to know about you.’ We asked it, ‘Who are you?’ It replied, ‘I am Jassasah.’ So they went until they entered the monastery, where there was a man bound with great severity. He was extremely sad and complained a lot. They greeted him, and he replied and asked, ‘Who are you?’ They said, ‘We are people from Arabia.’ He asked, ‘What has become of the people of Arabia? Has their Prophet appeared?’ They said, ‘Yes!’ He asked, ‘What did the people of Arabia do?’ They replied, ‘They did well, believed in him, and affirmed him.’ He said, ‘They did well. They were his enemies, but Allah made them prevail over them.’ He asked, ‘Is there now one God, one religion, and one word among the Arabs?’ They said, ‘Yes!’ He asked, ‘What has become of the spring of Zughar?’ They said, ‘It is fine; people drink its water themselves and irrigate their fields with it.’ He asked, ‘What has become of the garden between Amman and Baisan?’ They said, ‘It is fine and bears fruit every year.’ He asked, ‘What has become of the Lake of Tabariyyah?’ They said, ‘It is full.’ At this, he became restless and swore three times, ‘If I am released from this place, I will not leave any part of Allah’s earth without trampling it under my feet, except for Taybah, for I will have no power over it.’ The Prophet (ﷺ) said, ‘At this point, my happiness increased (he said this three times). Madinah is Taybah, and Allah has made my sanctuary forbidden for Dajjal to enter.’ Then the Prophet (ﷺ) swore, ‘By Him besides whom there is no deity, there is no narrow or wide valley or mountain of Madinah except that an angel with a drawn sword is appointed over it until the Day of Resurrection. Dajjal will not have the power to enter this city.’ Amir says, ‘Then I met Muharrir bin Abi Hurairah (may Allah have mercy on him) and narrated to him this hadith of Fatimah bint Qais (may Allah be pleased with her). He said, “I bear witness that my father narrated this hadith to me exactly as Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated it to you, except that my father said that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, ‘He is towards the east.’” Then I met Qasim bin Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him) and mentioned this hadith of Fatimah to him. He said, “I bear witness that Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated this hadith to me exactly as Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated it to you, except that she said that both sanctuaries, Makkah and Madinah, will be forbidden to Dajjal.”
