Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: " أَرْدَفَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَلْفَهُ، وَقُثَمُ أَمَامَهُ " (٤)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wanted to set out on a journey, he said:
“O Allah, You are the Companion on the journey and the Successor (the One Who guards them in a person's absence) over the family. O Allah, I seek refuge with You from burdensome travelling companions and an ill-fated outcome upon returning. O Allah, make the distance short for us and make the journey easy for us.”
