حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَطَاءٌ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَتْ: جَعَلَتْ شَعَائِرَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فِي رَقَبَتِهَا، فَدَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهَا، فَقُلْتُ: أَلَا تَنْظُرُ إِلَى زِينَتِهَا؟ فَقَالَ: " عَنْ زِينَتِكِ أُعْرِضُ ". قَالَ: زَعَمُوا أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " مَا ضَرَّ إِحْدَاكُنَّ لَوْ جَعَلَتْ خُرْصًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ، ثُمَّ جَعَلَتْهُ بِزَعْفَرَانٍ " (٤)، ،
Translation
English translation
Umm Salamah says that once she put a gold necklace around her neck. The Prophet (peace be upon him) came to her and turned away from her. She said, "Are you not seeing this adornment?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "It is because of your adornment that I am turning away from you." Then he said, "Why do you not mix it with silver? Then mix it with saffron, so that the silver will also become like gold."
