حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " إِنَّكُمْ تَخْتَصِمُونَ إِلَيَّ، وَلَعَلَّ بَعْضَكُمْ أَنْ يَكُونَ أَلْحَنَ بِحُجَّتِهِ مِنْ بَعْضٍ، وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ أَقْضِي لَهُ عَلَى نَحْوِ مَا أَسْمَعُ مِنْهُ، فَمَنْ قَضَيْتُ لَهُ مِنْ حَقِّ أَخِيهِ شَيْئًا، فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ نَارٌ فَلَا يَأْخُذْهُ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "You bring your disputes to me. It is possible that one of you may present his argument with such eloquence and clarity compared to the other that I may decide in his favor based on his argument. (Therefore, remember) if I accept someone's statement and decide in his favor regarding his brother's right, then understand that I am cutting a piece of fire for him and giving it to him. Therefore, he should not take it."
