حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ (١) ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ ابْنَةَ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ بَعْضِ أَزَاوِجِ النَّبِيِّ، صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ (٢) قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرَأَةٍ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ، أَوْ (٣) تُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ، أَنْ تُحِدَّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ، إِلَّا عَلَى زَوْجٍ فَإِنَّهَا تُحِدُّ عَلَيْهِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا " (٤)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Hafsa that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day (or Allah and His Messenger) to mourn for any deceased person other than her husband for more than three days; however, for her husband, she will observe mourning for four months and ten days.
