Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ،، ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ لَا يَرَى بَأْسًا أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَ الرَّجُلُ وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ، وَيَقُولُ: " إِنَّ نَبِيَّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، تَزَوَّجَ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ بِمَاءٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ: سَرِفُ، وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى نَبِيُّ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَجَّهُ، أَقْبَلَ، حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِذَلِكَ الْمَاءِ، أَعْرَسَ بِهَا " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade hollowed-out stumps, gourds, and varnished jars, and he said: “Do not drink from anything but that which has a string.” So they made (vessels) from camel skins, and gave them necks made from sheepskin. News of that reached him and he said: “Only drink from the upper part of it.”
