Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ، يُخْبِرُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ بِعَرَفَاتٍ: " مَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ نَعْلَيْنِ، فَلْيَلْبَسْ خُفَّيْنِ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ إِزَارًا، فَلْيَلْبَسْ سَرَاوِيلَ " (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated that 'Abdur-Rahman bin Wa'lah said:
I asked Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنه): We are campaigning against the people of the Maghrib and most of their waterskins are made from animals that were not slaughtered properly. He said: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: “Its tanning is its purification."
