Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I, along with a group of six, seven, or eight men, presented ourselves before the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to us, "Pledge allegiance to me." We said, "O Messenger of Allah! We have already pledged allegiance to you." The Prophet (peace be upon him) repeated the same request, so we pledged allegiance again. The Prophet (peace be upon him) took from us the same covenant that he took from the general people, but at the end, he softly said, "Do not ask people for anything."
