English translation

A man says that once I was on a journey with Salim bin Ubaid (may Allah be pleased with him) when a man sneezed and instead of thanking Allah, he said "Assalamu Alaikum." Salim (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Upon you and your mother as well." After walking a little further, he asked him, "Perhaps you are angry with me?" He replied, "Why did you mention my mother?" He said, "I had no other words to say except this, because once I was also on a journey with the Holy Prophet (ﷺ), and a man sneezed and said 'Assalamu Alaikum,' and the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) also gave him the same reply. Then he said, 'When any of you sneezes, he should say 'Alhamdulillah ala kulli haal' or 'Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Aalameen,' and the listener should say 'Yarhamukumullah,' and the one who sneezed should reply, 'May Allah forgive my and your sins.'"
