حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، وَصَالِحٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَنَّ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " لَا يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ يَلْتَقِيَانِ، فَيَصُدُّ هَذَا وَيَصُدُّ هَذَا، وَخَيْرُهُمَا الَّذِي يَبْدَأُ بِالسَّلَامِ " (١)، ،

Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: It is not lawful for a Muslim to sever relations with his brother for more than three days; when they meet, one turns his face this way and the other that way, and the better of the two is the one who greets first.
