Abu Wasil says that once I met Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him). He shook hands with me and noticed that my nails were long. He said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Each of you asks about heavenly matters while leaving his nails like the nails of birds, in which impurity, filth, and dirt accumulate." Some hadith scholars say that the narrator of this hadith is not Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), but rather Abu Ayyub Ataki (may Allah be pleased with him).
