Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was the practice of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) that when something was given as a gift, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) would also send some of it to Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him). So one day Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) came home and saw a bowl in which there were onions. He asked, "What is this?" The family members said, "The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) has sent this." He went to the service of the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! You did not even touch this bowl?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I saw onions in it." He asked, "Are onions not lawful for us?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Why not, you may eat it. However, those come to me who do not come to you (Jibreel Amin and other angels, peace be upon them)."
