حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، عنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: " كَانَ اسْمُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بَرَّةَ، فَكَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَرِهَ، ، ذَلِكَ، فَسَمَّاهَا جُوَيْرِيَةَ، كَرَاهَةَ أَنْ يُقَالَ: خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِ بَرَّةَ، قَالَ: وَخَرَجَ بَعْدَ مَا صَلَّى، فَجَاءَهَا فَقَالَتْ: مَا زِلْتُ بَعْدَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ دَائِبَةً، قَالَ: فَقَالَ لَهَا: " لَقَدْ قُلْتُ بَعْدَكِ كَلِمَاتٍ لَوْ وُزِنَّ لَرَجَحْنَ بِمَا قُلْتِ: سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ (١) اللهُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رِضَاءَ نَفْسِهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللهِ زِنَةَ عَرْشِهِ، سُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِدَادَ كَلِمَاتِهِ " (٢)، ،
Translation
English translation
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) that
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to teach them this supplication as he would teach them a soorah of the Qur'an: “O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the torment of Hell; I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave; I seek refuge in You from the evil of the Dajjal; and I seek refuge in You from the trials of life and death."
