Original Arabic
حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ مُهَاجِرٍ الصَّائِغِ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ـ لَمْ يُسَمِّهِ ـ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَجُلًا ـ يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ـ يَقْرَأُ: قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ فَقَالَ: " أَمَّا هَذَا فَقَدْ بَرِئَ مِنَ الشِّرْكِ "، وَسَمِعَ آخَرَ وَهُوَ يَقْرَأُ: قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ فَقَالَ: " أَمَّا هَذَا فَقَدْ غُفِرَ لَهُ " (٢)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from a Sheikh "who met the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)" that once I set out on a journey with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The Prophet passed by a man who was reciting Surah Al-Kafirun. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "He has become free from shirk." Then he saw another man who was reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "By its blessing, he will be forgiven."
