حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو مَالِكٍ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: " إِنَّ فِي أُمَّتِي أَرْبَعًا مِنَ أَمْرِ (٢) الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ لَيْسُوا بِتَارِكِيهِنَّ: الْفَخْرُ بِالْأَحْسَابِ، وَالِاسْتِسْقَاءُ، ، بِالنُّجُومِ، وَالنِّيَاحَةُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ، فَإِنَّ النَّائِحَةَ إِنْ لَمْ تَتُبْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَمُوتَ فَإِنَّهَا تَقُومُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَلَيْهَا سَرَابِيلُ مِنْ قَطِرَانٍ، ثُمَّ يُعَلُّ عَلَيْهَا دِرْعٌ مِنْ لَهَبِ النَّارِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Malik Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: There are four things from the time of ignorance which people will never abandon: boasting about one's lineage, finding fault with others' lineage, wailing over the dead, and attributing rain to the stars. And if a wailing woman does not repent before her death, then on the Day of Resurrection she will be made to stand in such a state that she will be wearing trousers of tar or a shirt of scabs (which will be made from the blazing flames of fire).
