حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ، عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ (٢) عُبَيْدٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، أَنَّ أَبَا مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيَّ لَمَّا حَضَرَتْهُ الْوَفَاةُ قَالَ: يَا سَامِعَ الْأَشْعَرِيِّينَ لِيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ مِنْكُمُ الْغَائِبَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " حُلْوَةُ الدُّنْيَا مُرَّةُ الْآخِرَةِ، وَمُرَّةُ الدُّنْيَا حُلْوَةُ الْآخِرَةِ " (٣)، ،
Translation
English translation
When the time of departure from this world for Abu Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) drew near, he said: O listening Ash'aris! Those among you who are present should convey this message to those who are absent: I heard the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: The sweetness of this world is the bitterness of the Hereafter, and the bitterness of this world is the sweetness of the Hereafter.
