Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was called for a funeral prayer, he would first inquire about the opinion of the people regarding the deceased. If the people mentioned him with goodness, the Prophet (ﷺ) would stand and lead his funeral prayer. But if he was mentioned with badness, the Prophet (ﷺ) would say to his family, "Take him away and perform his funeral prayer yourselves," and the Prophet (ﷺ) would not lead his funeral prayer.
