Translation

English translation

It is narrated from Abu Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) came to us while we were in the gathering of Sa’d bin ‘Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him). Bashir bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah, “O Messenger of Allah! Allah Almighty has commanded us to send blessings upon you. How should we send blessings upon you?” The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) remained silent for so long that we wished we had not asked this question. Then he said, “Say: ‘O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim, and bless Muhammad as You blessed the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.’ And as for the words of salam (peace), you already know them.”
