حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ، وَيُونُسُ قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، عَنِ السَّرِيِّ بْنِ يَنْعُمَ، عَنْ مَرِيحِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا بَعَثَ بِهِ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ قَالَ: " إِيَّاكَ وَالتَّنَعُّمَ؛ فَإِنَّ عِبَادَ اللهِ لَيْسُوا بِالْمُتَنَعِّمِينَ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) sent him to Yemen, he said: "Beware of a life of luxury and comfort, for the servants of Allah do not live a life of luxury and comfort."
