حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ حُجَيْرَةَ الشَّيْخَ، يَقُولُ: أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ، سَمِعَ أَبَا ذَرٍّ، يَقُولُ: نَاجَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةً إِلَى الصُّبْحِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَمِّرْنِي. فَقَالَ: "إِنَّهَا أَمَانَةٌ، وَخِزْيٌ، وَنَدَامَةٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِلَّا مَنْ أَخَذَهَا بِحَقِّهَا وَأَدَّى الَّذِي عَلَيْهِ فِيهَا " (٣)،
Translation
English translation
Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once I spent the night until morning in whispered conversation with the Noble Prophet (ﷺ). Then I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Appoint me as a governor of some region." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "This is indeed a trust, and on the Day of Resurrection it will be a cause of disgrace and regret, except for the one who takes it with its due right and fulfills his responsibilities."
