حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنِي رِشْدِينُ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ غَيْلَانَ التُّجِيبِيِّ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ حَاتِمِ بْنِ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ أَوْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ الْحِمْصِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَبِيتَ عِنْدَكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، فَأُصَلِّيَ بِصَلَاتِكَ. قَالَ: "لَا تَسْتَطِيعُ صَلَاتِي " فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْتَسِلُ، فَيَسْتُرُ بِثَوْبٍ وَأَنَا مُحَوَّلٌ عَنْهُ، فَاغْتَسَلَ، ثُمَّ فَعَلْتُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ قَامَ يُصَلِّي وَقُمْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى جَعَلْتُ أَضْرِبُ بِرَأْسِي الْجُدْرَانَ مِنْ طُولِ صَلَاتِهِ، ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ بِلَالٌ لِلصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ: "أَفَعَلْتَ؟ " قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: "يَا بِلَالُ، إِنَّكَ لَتُؤَذِّنُ إِذَا كَانَ الصُّبْحُ سَاطِعًا فِي السَّمَاءِ، وَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ الصُّبْحَ، إِنَّمَا الصُّبْحُ هَكَذَا مُعْتَرِضًا " ثُمَّ دَعَا بِسَحُورٍ فَتَسَحَّرَ (١)، ،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the presence of the Messenger of Allah that I wish to spend this night with you and participate in your prayer. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: You do not have the strength to do so. Nevertheless, the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) went to perform ghusl, a cloth was put up as a curtain, and I sat turning my face away. When the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) finished ghusl and came out, I did the same. Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) stood up to pray and I stood with him, until due to the length of the prayer, I began to bump my head against the walls. Then Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came for the prayer. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) asked him: Have you done it? He replied in the affirmative. The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said: Bilal! You give the adhan when the dawn appears in the sky, but that is not the real true dawn. The true dawn appears in a horizontal manner. Then the Noble Prophet (ﷺ) called for suhoor and partook of it.
