حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ شِمْرِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ، عَنِ أَشْيَاخِهِ،، ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَوْصِنِي. قَالَ: "إِذَا عَمِلْتَ سَيِّئَةً فَأَتْبِعْهَا حَسَنَةً تَمْحُهَا ". قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَمِنَ الْحَسَنَاتِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ؟ قَالَ: "هِيَ أَفْضَلُ الْحَسَنَاتِ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the court of the Messenger (ﷺ), "O Messenger of Allah! Advise me with some counsel." The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) said, "If you commit a sin, then perform a good deed afterwards which will erase that sin." I asked, "Is saying 'La ilaha illallah' included among good deeds?" The Noble Prophet (ﷺ) replied, "This is the best of all good deeds."
