حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَيُّ مَسْجِدٍ وُضِعَ فِي الْأَرْضِ أَوَّلُ؟ قَالَ: "الْمَسْجِدُ الْحَرَامُ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: ثُمَّ أَيُّ؟ قَالَ: "ثُمَّ الْمَسْجِدُ الْأَقْصَى "، قَالَ أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ: يَعْنِي بَيْتَ الْمَقْدِسِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: كَمْ بَيْنَهُمَا؟ قَالَ: "أَرْبَعُونَ سَنَةً، وَأَيْنَمَا أَدْرَكَتْكَ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلِّ فَإِنَّهُ مَسْجِدٌ " (١)،
Translation
English translation
It is narrated from Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I asked the Holy Prophet (ﷺ): Which was the first mosque built on earth? The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: Masjid al-Haram. I asked: Then which one? He said: Masjid al-Aqsa. I asked: What was the interval between the two? The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: Forty years. I asked: Then which mosque? The Holy Prophet (ﷺ) said: Then wherever you find the time for prayer, perform it there, for the whole earth is a mosque.
